FAQ

AM I WATCHING THE CHEF PROVIDE A COOKING DEMONSTRATION OR AM I COOKING ALONG?

Roll up your sleeves because YOU ARE DOING THE COOKING!

We love to make our experiences as interactive and hands-on as possible so that you can get your hands dirty and get the opportunity to learn through action! Your Instructor will guide you through the entire process and your Host will ensure that everyone is included and on the same step so that no one gets left behind. You will have the opportunity to ask the Instructor as many questions as you would like as they provide you with assistance and tips to ensure you have the best experience.

WHO WILL BE HOSTING OUR EXPERIENCE?

Our diverse team of wildly creative, talented and down-to-earth Instructors who include Michelin Star Chefs, Cooking Show Contestants, Patisserie Chefs and Chocolatiers, Sommeliers and Mixologists, Cook Book Authors, Food Bloggers and passionate home cooks. Our Instructors pride themselves on their culturally diverse backgrounds which they weave into their experiences. They live and breath food and beverage and aspire to share their culinary knowledge with the community. On average, our teachers have 10+ years of experience in the culinary and wine industries.

You will also have an energetic, inclusive and personable Host present to guide you through your experience, ensuring everyone is on track and having a fabulous time!

WILL I HAVE TO PURCHASE MY OWN INGREDIENTS AND USE MY OWN EQUIPMENT?

This will depend on whether you are taking a virtual or live experience.

In our virtual experiences you will have to source and provide all of your own ingredients and equipment. We will provide you with an ingredients list, equipment you will require and recipe for you to follow along with. We strive to make all ingredients necessary as affordable and accessible as possible. Many of the basic ingredients and equipment you should already have in your kitchen. Any other ingredients will generally be found at your local supermarket, grocer or health food store.

In our live experiences, we will provide you with an apron and all of the ingredients and equipment you will require for the class.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN NO LONGER ATTEND MY LIVE, IN-PERSON EVENT?

Refunds and transfers are only considered when a written request is received seven (7) days before your event or experience begins. Should you wish to obtain a refund, you will have the opportunity to do so within 30 days from being notified of the same. No refunds are given once an event or experience has commenced. If you fail to attend a class that you have paid for, you will not receive a refund.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY EVENT IS CANCELLED?

In the unlikely event that circumstances beyond Drool’s control prevent it from fulfilling any obligations, Drool will endeavour to reschedule the cancelled event or experience and transfer your booking. If we are unable to reschedule the event or experience, or if you are unable to attend the event or experience at an alternative time, a credit note will be issued, and any refund or transfer requests will be considered. Should you wish to obtain a refund, you will have the opportunity to do so within 30 days from being notified of the same.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM UNABLE TO ATTEND A SUPPER CLUB?

If you are unable to attend a Supper Club, we will be very sad not to see you, however if you let us know prior to 48 hours we can offer you a credit note or consider a refund.

In the event that you are unable to let us know 48 hours in advance, we will not be able to offer you a credit note or refund due to our obligation to our venue.

Either way, please get in touch to discuss.

WHAT IF I HAVE A DIETARY REQUIREMENT, FOOD INTOLERANCE OR ALLERGY?

At Drool we’re all about inclusivity – everyone’s preferences are welcome and catered for. A number of our classes are suitable for vegetarians and can be tailored for vegans. We also hold occasional veggie/vegan/gluten-free based specific events and experience, so sign up to our newsletter to stay up-to-date with what we’re planning.

We’re also keen to accommodate other dietary concerns and can quite easily adapt dish components to be gluten and lactose-free. If you’re dietary concerns are more complex or you have a severe allergy, please get in touch so we can have a discussion beforehand.

DO I NEED EXACT NUMBERS TO MAKE A BOOKING FOR A VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE?

Not at all. We understand how difficult it is to get a definitive group size in the early stages. We can book in your virtual experience based on your estimates. It’s always best to book for more and reduce numbers should guests no longer be available. We will need to confirm final numbers 24hrs before your event.

HOW DO I BOOK A VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE?

Once you have made an enquiry online via the contact us section, our team will get in touch with you to review your options and curate an event with you. When you are satisfied, we will provide you with a quote and booking invoice. We request that payment be made at least 48hrs before the event takes place. Once payment has been received, we will provide you with an email confirmation, ingredient list and recipe card with all of the information you will require before the event.

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE?

We request that you pay through a bank funds transfer whereby we will supply you with our account details.

HOW DO I TAKE PART IN A VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE?

Upon payment being received by us, we will you provided with a confirmation email which includes a link to a private Zoom meeting room. You can download the Zoom application before the class begins, or alternatively just click on the link and enter the meeting room as a guest.

WHAT TIME DO THE VIRTUAL EXPERIENCES START?

Start time will vary from event to event. We offer a number of virtual experiences and will always work with you to find a time that suits. It’s best to try and book as early as possible to ensure you receive the best and most suitable time-slot.

HOW LONG DO THE VIRTUAL EXPERIENCES GO FOR?

This again will vary from event to event. Depending on the style of class you wish to take, our experiences will generally vary from 60 minutes to 90 minutes, to 120 minutes in length. Upon you indicating how long you wish your experience to go for, we will suggest an appropriate event to match your needs.

CAN OTHER PEOPLE IN MY HOUSEHOLD JOIN IN ON MY VIRTUAL EVENT?

Of course! We suggest to limit all of our cooking classes to three active cooks, including yourself.  This way, you can get a little support with some of the cooking but not be overwhelmed or distracted with too many people during class. For our wine tasting classes or mixology workshops, we encourage you to limit your crowd to 5 people or less. If guests are actively participating in the class, they will have to be included in payment.

SOME OF THE GUESTS CAN'T MAKE THE VIRTUAL EVENT, WHAT HAPPENS HERE?

No problems. It’s best for you to tell us as soon as possible, however we can do our best to make adjustments to ensure payment is reflective of how many participants were present.

CAN I BUY THE EXPERIENCE AS A GIFT FOR SOMEONE ELSE?

Well aren’t you just the best! Of course you can! You can provide payment in advance via bank transfer and either request a specific event or leave it to be chosen by your giftee! Once payment has been received, we will provide your giftee with all of the information they will require. GIFT CARDS COMING SOON!
